Who We Are
The Veteran Roadmap ("we," "us," "our") is a veteran-owned publishing and tools business operated by Andy Kurien, based in Augusta, Georgia. This policy covers veteran-roadmap.com and app.veteran-roadmap.com (Claim Compass). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
Information We Collect
We collect information in a few different ways, depending on how you use the site:
- Information you give us directly — your name and email address if you sign up for our newsletter or contact us, and account information (name, email, payment details) if you create a Claim Compass account.
- Information collected automatically — standard analytics data such as pages visited, time on site, referring pages, device and browser type, and general location (city/region level, not precise location), collected through Google Analytics.
- Payment information — if you subscribe to Claim Compass, payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We do not collect, see, or store your full card number, and we're not directly involved in that transaction beyond receiving confirmation that a payment succeeded. If you purchase a guide or template on Etsy, that transaction and any payment information is handled entirely by Etsy, under Etsy's own privacy policy.
- Claim Compass account data — information you choose to enter into Claim Compass to track your own claim (such as dates, notes, or documents you upload) is stored to make the tool work for you. We do not access, read, or use this content for any purpose other than providing the service back to you.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the website and Claim Compass
- To send you the newsletter or updates you've signed up for, if you've opted in
- To respond to questions or support requests you send us
- To process and manage your Claim Compass subscription
- To understand, in aggregate, how people use the site, so we can improve it
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your Claim Compass data to build advertising profiles.
Third-Party Services We Use
We rely on a small number of outside services to run this site and Claim Compass. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
- Google Analytics — website traffic and usage analytics.
- Stripe — payment processing for Claim Compass subscriptions.
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — email newsletter delivery, if you subscribe.
- Etsy — handles purchases and payment for our digital guides, trackers, and templates sold through our Etsy shop.
- Cloudflare — our hosting provider, which processes standard web traffic to deliver the site to you.
Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies from Google Analytics to understand site traffic. You can opt out of analytics tracking on this site specifically by visiting any page with ?notrack=1 added to the end of the URL (for example, veteran-roadmap.com/?notrack=1) — this sets a cookie on your device that disables analytics tracking for future visits, across both veteran-roadmap.com and app.veteran-roadmap.com. You can also use your browser's own privacy settings, ad blockers, or "Do Not Track" extensions, which will generally block this kind of tracking as well.
Your Choices
- Newsletter: every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time.
- Claim Compass account: you can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing [email protected].
- Analytics: see the cookie opt-out above, or use your browser's privacy tools.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us, including relying on established, reputable providers (Stripe, Cloudflare, Kit) for the parts of our service that touch sensitive data, rather than building our own payment or infrastructure systems from scratch. That said, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our tools or practices change. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
